Hi! I’m Dr. Shirley Chan-Ramirez, or simply, Dr. Chan. I’m a mom of 2. I became a pediatrician because I love caring for kids, they make me smile every day! I enjoy providing support and reassurance to parents. My favorite part of my job is forming long-term relationships with families.
I developed a passion for assisting moms and babies through their breastfeeding journeys after having a difficult experience myself. I was amazed and grateful for how my lactation consultant helped me overcome challenges and reach my goals. I pursued further training in lactation and became board-certified in lactation consultation (IBCLC) in 2017. I’ve also attended breastfeeding medicine conferences, where I’ve learned how to diagnose and treat various breastfeeding medical conditions in both moms and babies.
Both my babies had posterior tongue-ties and my experience feeding them made me realize how challenging tongue-ties can be for both babies and their families. In 2018, I shadowed renowned tongue-tie expert Dr. Bobby Ghaheri to learn his technique for correcting tongue-tie. Since then, I have been performing tongue-tie procedures and have helped many babies regain their feeding function. In doing so, I have also relieved their families’ frustration and sleeplessness related to infant feeding dysfunction.
I opened Blossom Pediatrics and Lactation in 2021 out of a love for serving families with in-depth, empathetic, and compassionate care. I would be delighted to provide excellent pediatric care for your children and guide you alongside your parenting journey. I hope that my expertise in lactation and tongue-tie will also support struggling families and provide much needed relief from stress and worry.
